About the Role

Unite strategic technology leadership with hands-on execution to scale a multi-agent AI platform from 0->1->N. Shape the technical vision at the leadership table and contribute directly to code, reliability, and engineering growth.

Responsibilities

1. Tech Strategy & Architecture: Own technology strategy and roadmap, define reference architecture for agentic systems (LLMs, tool orchestration, data plane, safety/guardrails, evals), establish security & compliance baselines (IAM, secrets, data privacy; SOC2-readiness), and cost governance (FinOps).
2. Hands-on Engineering & Delivery: Ship backend services in Python/TypeScript, orchestrate agents and toolchains (ADK, BeeAI, n8n or similar), integrate APIs/DBs, build robust pipelines, and manage DevOps (AWS/GCP, containerization, IaC, CI/CD, observability, on-call design).
3. Reliability, Security & Data: Define SLOs and error budgets, implement data access policies and secure data flows, drive post-mortems and preventive engineering.
4. Team Building & Culture: Act as a player-coach, hire and mentor engineers, set clear scorecards, and foster a culture of quality and fast feedback.
5. Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Management: Partner with Product & AI, collaborate with Ops, Growth, and Customer teams, manage vendors/partners, and evaluate build-vs-buy decisions.

Success Metrics

1. DORA metrics, reliability (SLOs, error budgets), AI quality, cost & scale, and team engagement.

First 90 Days

1. Map current-state architecture, risks, and cost/security posture.
2. Deliver first PR to production and draft hiring plan.
3. Develop tech roadmap, harden CI/CD, and launch agentic workflows.
4. Define SLOs and prioritize tech-debt backlog.

Qualifications (Must-Haves)

1. 6-8+ years building and scaling software in high-growth environments; 3+ years leading teams as Head/Lead/VP-level or equivalent.
2. Strong backend in Python and/or TypeScript, containers (Docker), and cloud (AWS or GCP) with IaC and CI/CD.
3. Hands-on experience with LLMs/agentic systems and tool orchestration; solid grasp of data flows and AI safety/guardrails.
4. Observability & security fluency (OpenTelemetry or similar; IAM, secrets, hardening).
5. Data-driven decision-maker with excellent communication; professional English.

Nice to Have

1. FinOps, SRE, and SOC 2/compliance experience.
2. Domain exposure to finance/accounting/tax/payroll or other back-office systems.
3. Open-source contributions; RAG/evaluations experience.
4. Spanish; experience with distributed teams across time zones.
